East & Southeast
The East of Ireland for our purposes stretches southward along the Irish Sea coast from Carlingford Lough to Kilmichael Point, taking in the maritime counties and parts of their neighbours.
As all 26 ByRoutes emanate from DUBLIN (dealt with in Special Pages covering Dublin City and the new administrative counties of Dunlaoghaire-Rathdown, South Dublin and Fingal), the region is inevitably covered by portions of each – for specifics, see pages on Co. Wicklow, Co. Kildare, Co. Meath and Co. Louth, plus Co. Carlow, Co. Kilkenny, Co. Laois, and Co. Monaghan. There are also Special Pages on Carlow Town & Environs and the Castecomer Plateau.
The Southeast, heavily marketed as the sunniest part of the island, encompasses all of Co. Wexford, most of Co. Carlow, Co. Kilkenny and Co. Waterford, and a small part of Co. Tipperary. There are also Special Pages on , Kilkenny Ciy & Environs, Wexford Harbour, Town & Environs, Wexford’s Islands and the Tuskar Rock.
